The real terror of this movie is the fact that anyone could see this ending as a good outcome. Dani is in more danger than she or the audience can see. I thank the Halo effect for this. This movie was fantastic! Yes, its very disturbing and it leaves you affected, but the themes expressed in this film are orchestrated so well! This seems like fun, except there are girls falling over and the one that bumps into Dani at one point vomits off to the side. The weird thing about cults is that theyre both heaven and hell at the same time...

If listen carefully, the beginning music is similar to a song in Wicker man called Willow's Song. Scariest part was were Christian was tripping, asked the man to help him and he clapped in his face. Sounds flat but the level of anxiety I felt in that moment is unmatched, it reminded me of how sad bad trips can be. Thanks Kay! Ive been waiting for something like this ever since I started thinking about the treatment of characters of color in Midsommar, and then when I saw that banner in a tweet I had the whole movie reframed for me. Its a shame that this take isnt more widespread, as I do feel its more impactful than “its about a breakup LUL.” Thanks for putting this out there. Great stuff.
